Dataset 4
NHL League Strength and NHLe
A reference to established public NHLe work (primarily network methods from Turtoro and implementations by Bacon and others), showing what the factors look like across leagues and the theory that they are most reliably used as an index of relative league strength for weighting production — rather than a direct per-player NHL point projection formula.
Example League Factors
These are representative values drawn from public network NHLe models. (We use similar factors internally for contextualizing production in our draft rankings.)
| League | NHLe | Category |
|---|---|---|
| KHL | ~0.62 | EU Pro |
| SHL | ~0.49 | EU Pro |
| AHL | ~0.41 | North American Pro |
| Liiga | ~0.36 | EU Pro |
| WHL / QMJHL / OHL | ~0.16 | Major Junior |
| USHL | ~0.12 | Junior |
Actual values vary slightly by implementation and data window. Full public models are linked in the report below.
